IndiaSkills Competition

Under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) organises IndiaSkills Competition every two years at the regional and national levels, aiming to scout for talent from across the country. Skilled youth from different districts, states and regions get an opportunity to exhibit their skills and compete at a national platform. IndiaSkills raises the profile and recognition of skilled people, and shows how important skills are in achieving economic growth.

The winners of IndiaSkills get an opportunity to represent the country at WorldSkills International Competition. WorldSkills is the global benchmark for skill competition designed to test the youth’s aptitude, ability and agility.

IndiaSkills 2021 has been one of the biggest skills competitions in the country, which witnessed participation of 26 states/ union territories in 54 skills including seven new-age skills introduced this year. More than 1,300 candidates participated in four regional competitions held in East (Patna), West (Gandhinagar), North (Chandigarh) and South (Visakhapatnam) during October-December.

With an aim to provide world-class infrastructure to the participants, the regional competitions were held in a decentralized model this year, wherein they were conducted at multiple Partner Institutes (skill/ trade specific) in the host city. The opening and closing ceremonies were conducted at a centralized venue, in which participants, jury, experts and mentors from all skills and Central and state officials were present.

REGIONAL COMPETITION - EAST

Date: 20 - 23 October 2021 Venue: Patna, Bihar

The competition will be hosted in the capital city, Patna, starting from October 20th and will conclude on October 23rd, 2021. Over 240 participants from eight states including Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar, Mizoram, Assam and Tripura will display their talent in 42 skills.

The opening ceremony for IndiaSkills 2021 Regional Competition will take place at Gyan Bhawan on 20 October at 11 AM and conclude at Bapu Dham on 23 October 2021 at 5:30 PM. The competitions will be held at eleven partnering institutions which specialize in different skill trades.

REGIONAL COMPETITION - NORTH

Date: 15 - 18 November 2021 Venue: Chandigarh

IndiaSkills 2021 Regional Competition – North will be hosted in Chandigarh from 15-18 November. Over 325 participants from eight states and union territories including Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh will showcase their talent in more than 45 skills.

The opening ceremony for IndiaSkills 2021 Regional Competition – North will take place at Inderdhanush Auditorium, Sector – 5, Panchkula (Haryana) on 15 November and the event will conclude with a ceremony at the same venue on 18 November. The competitions will be held at 15 Partner Institutes (PIs), which specialise in different skills.

REGIONAL COMPETITION - south

Date: 1 - 4 December 2021 Venue: Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

NSDC will organise IndiaSkills 2021 Regional Competition - South from 1 to 4 December in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, bringing together over 400 participants from five states—Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana—who will showcase their talent in more than 50 skills.

The opening ceremony of the Southern competition will be held at Andhra University Convention Centre, Visakhapatnam on 1 December and the event will conclude at the same venue on 4 December. The competitions will be held at 10 Partner Institutes (PIs) specialising in different skills.

Post Regionals and IndiaSkills National competition, the top two participants per skill will be selected for training and development programme. Under the said programme, the candidates will be trained on several fronts by the Industry Experts/Mentor/Coaches including:
